Located off the Beihai City in the Guangxi Province of China is the picturesque Xieyang Island. It formed due to major volcanic activity in the region. Consequently, it has a very unusual lotus-like shape with a deep center and protruding landscape all around. The eruptions also caused a number of small hollows across the island. At high tide, these hollows fill with sea water and look like glittering gems under the sun. The sea around the island is a paradise of marine life and corals. With lush greenery, pleasant climate, traditional fishing boats, warm sea waters, and clear blue skies, the island is a part of most sightseeing tours.
