Great Wall of China at Juyong Guan (Juyong Pass)

Approximately 50Kms from Beijing, China is the Changping District where the Juyong Pass in the Great Wall of China is situated. This Pass had strategic significance in the ancient times because it provided direct access to the city of Beijing from the northern regions. The Pass encircles a picturesque valley with its abundant flora. In the center of the pass is the famous Cloud Platform which is made of white marble. An arched doorway is cut into the base of the platform. The walls of the doorway are decorated with statues of the four heavenly Gods and inscriptions of ancient Buddhist sutras.
