Great Wall of China at Mutianyu

Mutianyu is approximately 40 miles from Beijing downtown and it is the second most popular section of the Great Wall to visit after Badaling. It might be a smart choice for busy days and holidays since it is not as crowded. Mutianyu was initially constructed in the 6th century by the Northern Qi Dynasty and additionally strengthened by the Ming Dynasty.

The section is 3.4 miles long, while its height varies from 23 to 26 feet. You can see more than twenty watchtowers and enjoy the magnificent scenery. Once you climb up, you have the option of going back down with toboggan, which kids consider a special attraction.
