Miaofeng Shan

The Miaofeng Shan Mountain to the west of Beijing is a place of pilgrimage as well as a picturesque trekking area and has been so since ancient times. April and May are the months when the area sees a maximum number of tourists. At this time there is a fair at the Miao Feng Shan Temple situated on the mountain. There are also other Buddhist and Taoist temples in the region that were built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Another reason why tourists visit this place is the Bixia Yuanjun temple (Heavenly Jade Maiden). Local businessmen pray at this temple because they believe the Goddess blesses them with prosperity.
