Yunju Temple and Shijing Mountain

Also called the Temple of Cloud Dwelling, the Yunju Temple is about 70Kms from the center of Beijing city. The temple has a vast collection of texts or "sutras" that teach the Buddhist philosophy and way of life. The first sutras engraved in stone were written by Jing Wan, a Buddhist monk. After his death, his students continued writing the sutras, and today, the temple has a collection of 10,082 tablets. Later, the sutras were written on paper and there is a collection of 22,000 such sutras in the temple. Of these, the ones by Bhiksu Zu Hui written in his own blood are the most precious. You will also find 77,000 well-preserved wooden sutras at the temple that are worth seeing.
