The Guangdong Museum of Art is a unique establishment that showcases various art forms of China from ancient right up to the present time. Set up in 1997, it hosts nearly 60 exhibitions in a year. Its calligraphy collection is believed to be the largest and most unique in the world. Majority of the exhibits reflect the “Lingnan” school of art style. The paths of the landscaped garden are dotted with contemporary-style sculptures. Don’t miss the Tibetan “thangkas”, the ancient paintings which were used by monks as meditation tools displayed in the permanent exhibition. The artworks of Chen Shaoxiong and Xu Tan are must-sees too.
