Situated in the Yanguan Tidal Wave Watching Area, the Yanguan Chenghuang Miao (City God Temple) is a luxurious pavilion built during the Yuan and Ming Dynasties. The temple itself is 41.5 meters tall with 7 floors including a basement. It is one of the best vantage points to see the autumn tidal wave, the lakes, towns, rivers, and other surrounding scenery. The special feature of the temple is the sculptures of four exquisite phoenixes on the top. While you are at the temple, you must visit the second floor where a couplet penned by Xu Wei has been inscribed. Xu Wei was a renowned playwright, author, poet, calligraphist, during the Ming Dynasty.
