The Zhaojun Tomb near Hohhot is situated close to the Dahei River and has colorful scenery. The top of the tomb gives visitors a wonderful panoramic view of Mount Yinshan in the distance. It is 33 meters high and was built to honor Wang Zhaojun, one of the most beautiful women in ancient China who married Genghis Khan for peace and unity between the Han and Hun peoples. There are huge statues of both of them on horseback that symbolizes friendship and good relationships between the Han and Hun nationalities. The ancient paintings and calligraphy are also worth seeing.
