Yuanyang Rice Terraces

The southern slopes of the Ailao Mountain in Honghe Prefecture, Yunnan Province, China are blessed with the most picturesque Yuanyang Rice Terraces. There are 3,000 terraces spread over an area of 113 square kilometers. The local Hani people have been cultivating rice on these slopes since the last 2,500 years. The landscape has a picture-perfect beauty that is irresistible for naturalists, photographers, and tourists in equal measure. The terraces are surrounded by other tourist attractions like the Duoyishu, Bada, and the Laohuzui Scenic Areas. Along with the rice terraces, these scenic areas form a major part of the tourist circuit in the Honghe Prefecture.
