Tian Chi (Jilin)

The Tian Chin Lake (Heavenly Lake) in the Jilin Province of China is located in the volcanic caldera of the Paektu Mountain Peak, Changbai Mountain range. It is the deepest and largest alpine lake in the region. The crystal-blue lake has a fantastic backdrop of the mountain that is covered with white pumice rocks and snow. The lush green forests are endowed with rare animals, water bodies, a variety of flora, and irresistible scenery. In the summer months between June and September, the lake area is full of tourists who want a glimpse of the Loch-Ness-type monster that is supposed to be living in the lake!
