Iron Pagoda

Kaifeng, China

Built in the year 1049 during the Song Dynasty, the 56.6 meters tall Iron Pagoda is a unique structure. It is not made from iron but from bricks that look like iron. The architecture is so unique that it is considered the best example of glazed tiles and bricks in all of China. Similar to the Leaning Tower of Pisa, the Iron Pagoda also leans to one side. The building is surrounded by the 50-hectares Iron Pagoda Park that even has a 300 meters wide pond. The pond is surrounded by a big statue of Buddha and two octagonal pagodas. It is considered one of the best ornamental Parks in the region.
