Dragon Gate

Kunming, China

Dragon Gate is located just outside Kunming, in its western suburbs, in the area popularly known as West Hills. The gate is also known as Longmen and it was built for more than 70 years – from 1781 to 1853 during the Qing Dynasty. Perhaps it took this much time because it was built on a cliff.

The location is popular because of its picturesque caves and stone rooms. The most famous is the Datiange stone room filled with Taoist figures that were hand-made of natural stone. Make sure to visit the Lingguan Hall, Sanqing Pavilion, Filial Cattle Spring, and Phoenix Rock, to complete your tour of Dragon Gate.
