Established by the Kadampa sect, the Drolma Lhakhang Temple or Nyethang Drolma Temple is dedicated to a female Bodhisattva named Tara. Therefore, you can see many paintings and statues of Tara at this temple. Being just 33Kms from Lhasa City, it is usually full of locals as well as tourists from all over the world. Strangely, there are many quills and stag-heads at the temple that indicate that at some time deer were hunted here. The inner sanctum is surrounded by other chapels and there are two 11th century deities who stand guard at the entrance of the main building, that make the attraction worth seeing.
