Lhasa, China

Although steeped in controversy, the Manlha Water Conservation Project is located in the Gyaze County in southwestern Xigaze Prefecture of Tibet. It is an ambitious project that will provide 20,000 kilowatts of power to several towns and cities as well as irrigation for the 43,000 hectares of the country's farmlands. It is also aimed at controlling floods with the proper management of discharge tunnels and a 155 million cubic meters capacity reservoir. Tourists can get an idea of the progress and development of Tibetan China from this project. So it is worth a day's visit while you are in the region.
