Reting Monastery

With a history of 900 years, the Reting Monastery has played an important role in the religion of the Tibetans. The monastery has also been proactive in the unification of Tibet and China, giving it a political status in the People's Republic of China. It is just a 2-hours drive away from Lhasa and has thousands of visitors from all over the world. Surrounded by a vast and dense forest of tall cypresses, the area around the monastery is also called the Reting National Forest Park. With such an abundance of greenery, scenic beauty, religious importance, and political affiliations, it is little wonder that the monastery is one of the must-see places in Tibet.
