The Mochou Lake Park is a much-visited tourist attraction near the Qinhuai River, Nanjing, China. It is a wonderful combination of natural beauty and ornamental gardens. It has beautiful fountains, rockeries, blossoming crabapple trees, and plenty of greenery. The Shengqi Pavilion is a simple two-storied structure that houses the most exquisite examples of calligraphy and Chinese paintings. The lake was named after a legendary woman known for her beauty, versatility, virtue and loyalty. The Pavilion has a beautiful lily pond which is divided into two sections. In the middle of the pond stands a white marble statue of Mochou with a sorrowful expression because she missed her husband who had gone to war.
