Zhan Qiao Pier

Qingdao, China

This pier was the first one constructed in Qingdao Bay. It was built in 1892 and its primary purpose was to serve as a wharf for a small fishing village, which Qingdao was at the time. Today, the Zhan Qiao Pier reaches into the bay for over 1400 feet and is reconstructed to suit the modern needs of the city.

You can find the Huilan Pavilion, which is an octagon pavilion that resembles Chinese architectural style. It is unique because it is in contrast to the buildings constructed in the European style that you can notice in the background.
