Built in 1945, the ZhanShan Temple lies at the foothills of the Tia Ping Hill in Qingdao, China. At the entrance is a gigantic white-jade statue of Guanyin, the Mercy Goddess. A little ahead are two massive stone lions that were designed during the Ming Dynasty. The next hall has a beautiful large statue of the Buddha with two small statues and those of 8 priests. This is still used for prayers and meditation. Next is the central hall with three 12-feet tall gilded statues. The main sanctum has a gilded altar, and a gilded and jeweled 20-feet long statue of the Recumbent Buddha. With so much to see, naturally this is a popular tourist attraction.
