Turpan, China

Jiaohe Ruins is a well-preserved, invaluable archaeological site located only 10 kilometers from the small city of Turpan in Xinjiang. It is more than 2,000 years old, but still well-preserved. Jiaohe used to be one of the Silk Road stops. This is where its importance and glory came from. The area’s dry climate and lack of surface water was the key to such an amazing level of the remnants preservation. Visitors admire the scope and obvious richness of the remnants architecture which was once bright and glorious. There is also a museum within the complex worth visiting.
