The Erdaoqiao Bazaar in Urumqi has the distinction of being the largest bazaar in the world with an area of 4,000 square meters, an 80 meters tall sightseeing tower, an opera theater, a mosque, and a food court. It is a unique example of ancient and modern Islamic architecture and is the hub of ethnic commerce, entertainment, and tourism. Its tall silver and blue central dome is an imposing structure. You can buy countless varieties of souvenirs like jade ornaments, musical instruments, hand-woven carpets, Uygur embroidered hats, ethnic garments, cashmere scarves, handicrafts, knives, local herbs, and dried fruits. There is also an open space where the local tribes sing and dance for tourists.
