Xi'an Bell Tower and Drum Tower

Xi'an, China

These two towers are located at the same square in the downtown of Xi’an. They were both first built in the 14th century and reconstructed at present locations in the 18th century during the Qing Dynasty. The Bell Tower looks a bit more impressive as it is 118-feet high and has three stories. The roof that has gold plating, grey brinks, and general architecture resembles the times of Song and Tang dynasties. The bell on top was used to tell time.

Drum Tower is a bit smaller with 112 feet of height and it is located on the other part of the square. The building is equally impressive and also features grey bricks. The drum on top was also used for telling time and it was useful in the afternoon.
