Also called the "Tulou Great Wall" the Nanxi Tulou (Hakka houses) cluster stretches over 8Kms and is on the UNESCO World Heritage Site list. This is the longest continuous tulou located along the Nanxi River bank in China. A tulou is a quake-proof fortified home built with mud, bamboo, stone, and wood with a 1.8-meters thick wall and plenty of natural ventilation. The larges continuous tulou among this cluster is the Yanxiang Lou in the Xinnan Village built during the Ming Dynasty. It has 134 rooms, four floors, and 2 large halls. Besides a crack in the walls which has since healed, this tulou has survived a massive earthquake of magnitude 7 in 1910.
