One of the most unexpected tourist attractions in China is the Shibei Village Dinosaur Fossils site. Located near the Yibin City in the Sichuan Province, the site has dinosaur fossils of the Lower Jurassic age. The most famous find here is the Gongxianosaurus shibeiensis which is a primitive and early sauropod-kind of a dinosaur. This is an unusual find because it has the combined features of a prosauropod and a sauropod and indicates that it belonged to an intermediary stage of evolution. Except that the skull is missing, the rest of the dinosaur is surprisingly intact. This is a great tourist attraction for lovers of history and paleontology.
