During the Ming Dynasty reign, the city of Yulin had a strategic location. It lay on the border between the Chinese Han-nationality region and the nomadic tribes occupying Inner Mongolia. Hence, the Great Wall of China at Zhenbei Tower was a very strong strategic defense system to prevent the Mongols from invading China. The highlight of the Wall is the “Pacify the North Tower” or Zhen Bei Tai built during the Ming Dynasty. It served as a trading point between the two regions without conflict or war. Today, it a wonderful vantage point to see the beautiful landscape in the region.
