Lhagang Grassland (Tagong Town)

About 110Kms from the city of Kangding, Garze Tibetan Prefecture, Sichuan Province of China is the Tagong Town. The location of the town is the beautiful Lhagang Grassland, which is a lush green meadow surrounded by snow-capped mountains. The Horse Race Festival celebrated in the 8th lunar month is the highlight of the town and the region. The Grassland’s scenic landscape has many tourist attractions like the Tagong Monastery (Lhagong temple), Yala Mountain, Tagong Pagoda Stupa, Tagong Buddhism College, etc. The 17th-century Tagong Monastery has a beautiful statue of the 12-year-old Sakyamuni Buddha which was brought and installed by the Qing Dynasty Princess Wenchen.
