It is located in the Baisha Old Town, which is part of the complex of Lijiang Old Town that also includes Shuhe and Dayan. Baisha Frescoes are a part of Dabaoji Palace, which was constructed during the Ming Dynasty. The murals belong to the Naxi ethnic group and its cultural heritage.
You can find a total of 28 groups of frescoes in the palace. One of the most popular ones depicts Sakyamuni teaching his disciples the sutra passages. The frescoes depict various tales related to Tibetan Buddhism, Buddhism, and Taoism. Today, they are an important asset for studying the history of China’s religions and arts.
