Konka Monastery (Shangmuju Village)

The Konka Monastery is located in the Shangmuju Village in the Mount Gongga (Minya Konka) Scenic Area. It is a monastery belonging to the Kagyu (Black Hat) Tibetan Buddhist sect. It is situated at an altitude of almost 4,000 meters above sea level in the Garze Tibetan Prefecture of Sichuan Province, China. The monastery lies in a picturesque valley, surrounded by the most amazing scenery of snowy mountain peaks, dense green forests, lakes, waterfalls, caves, etc. A narrow dirt road leads up to the monastery where four-wheel drives can reach. Due to its scenic beauty, the monastery is a popular tourist attraction, especially with trekkers and backpackers.
