Golden Horse and Jade Rooster Archways

Kunming, China

There are two very unique structures in Kunming, China built during the Ming Dynasty. One is the Golden Horse Archway on the Golden Horse Mountain in the east of Kunming. And the second is the Jade Rooster Archway on Green Chicken Mountain in the west. They provide a panoramic view of Kunming city and its surroundings. It is believed that on a certain date the shadow of the Rooster Archway formed by the sun and the shadow of the Horse Archway formed by the moon overlap. This phenomenon occurs only once in 60 years and is a spectacular sight. Kunming has the best Chinese fine-dining restaurants and shopping malls in the region.
