The Suzhou Silk Factory (also known as Suzhou No. 1 Silk Factory) in Jiangsu Province, China is a must-see place because it not only sells the most beautiful silk in the world but also because you can see the silk-making process. The Factory follows that 100-year-old method of producing silk even today. You can see the procedure of breeding silkworms, how the cocoons are selected, how the silk threads are reeled, and how the cloth is woven – all this under one roof. It has a museum where samples of Chinese silk from ancient times to date are displayed. On your way out, don’t forget to buy their famous silk-stuffed duvet into which cocoons are spread out evenly by hand, or silk garments, scarves, bags, etc.
