Leifeng Pagoda

Hangzhou, China

Leifeng Pagoda was initially built in 975 AD at the request of Wuyue Kingdom’s King who wanted to celebrate that Huangfei, his most beloved concubine, was pregnant. The Japanese destroyed the building and it was renovated by the Southern Song Dynasty who renamed it to Leifeng Pagoda. After collapsing again in 1924, it was rebuilt one more time in 2002.

The pagoda is located on the Sunset Hill near the West Lake. It has five stories and climbing to the top is more than worth the effort. You can enjoy the impressive West Lake scenery or enjoy a view of the Jingci Temple.
