Liuhe Pagoda faces Qiangtang River and lies on the southern side of the West Lake. It was initially built in 970AD and it is one of the three famous pagodas in Hangzhou besides Leifeng Pagoda and Baochu Pagoda. It is 196 feet high and seems like it has 13 stories from the outside.
However, once you start climbing the spiral stairs, you realize that there are only seven floors. As you climb the stairs, you can enjoy various-themed brick carvings or look outside for the breathtaking scenery of Qiantang River and the fantastic bridge across it. Liuhe Pagoda is an ideal place to observe the magnificent Qiantang River Tide.
