Yanguan Ancient Town (Haining)

The town of Haining near Hangzhou, China is better known for its International Qiantang River Tidal Bore Watching Festival that occurs in the autumn season. But for those who like to see unusual places, the Yanguan Ancient Town is a must-see place. The Cultural Street in the town has the famous mansion of Chen Yuanlong, a respected scholar during the Qing Dynasty. This 400-years-old property covers an area of 8,000 square meters. The ornamental courtyard is designed with the most attractive rockeries, bridges, streams, flowering plants, and numerous trees. There is a 600-years-old podocarpus tree that is flourishing even today.
