Declared a UNESCO World Heritage site, the Xiaoling Tomb (Mingxiao Ling) is a must-see place in Nanjing, China. It is the tomb of Zhu Yuanzhang, the first Emperor of the Ming Dynasty and Empress Ma. The site is divided into two sections – the tree-lined Sacred Way and the Main Buildings where the cemeteries of the two royals are. The structures include the Great Golden gate, the Minglou Building, the Stele of Godly Merit and Saintly Virtue, Xiama Lane, Sifangcheng, and the Bao Ding. The buildings are surrounded by maple and gingko trees that look bright yellow and red in the autumn season.
