Mount Nojin Kangsang

Lhasa, China

Mount Noijin Kangsang (Noijinkangsang or Norin Kang) is the highest peak among the Lhagoi Kangri mountain ranges in the Tibet. You will see incense burners and colorful prayer flags fluttering in the mountain breeze because the local Tibetans consider the peak a holy place. The peak is a favorite of mountaineers because they find the East Ridge of the mountain less treacherous and easier to ascend. While you approach the mountain peak by road, you will get the best glimpse near the Gampa La pass where glaciers of the north and south meet. Of course, the most perfect sight is at the holy Yamdrok Lake with the mountain peak in the background.
