Eight Great Passes

Qingdao, China

The Eight Great Passes lie in the Qingdao Zhongshan Park in China. These passes or avenues are the Hanguguan, Ningwuguan, Zhengyangguan, Jiayuguan, Shanhaiguan, Zijingguan, Juyongguan, and Shaoguan. Each of the passes has trees that are completely different from the rest. Which means each pass or avenue has a distinct set of trees that do not grow along the other avenues. During the colonial era of Germany, the European nations discovered the healing properties of some of the flora in the region and set up spas and sanatoriums to cure various illnesses. Hence, the villas built here have different architectural styles like Dutch, German, Italian, Japanese, British, Austrian, Danish, French, Swiss, Russian, etc.
