In English, you would call this place “Temple of the Queen of Heaven.” It was built in the 15th century during the Ming Dynasty and it is in a perfect spot by the coastline. If you would like to study the history of Qingdao and its folk art, this is the starting point.
Tianhou Temple has a total of sixteen buildings. The most famous ones include the drum tower, bell tower, opera tower, and several halls. You can find more than 100 cultural relics here, which is why the temple is now known as the folk custom museum of the city.
