Established in 1928, the China Academy of Art, Hangzhou is a premier academy that has advanced programs in art. Colloquially called Guomei, the Academy has the best globally-famous artists among its alumni. It has a four-tiered doctoral programs in different art forms like calligraphy, sculpture and public art, art history and theory, dance, music, design, architecture, painting, crafts, dramatics, film-making, television, animation, broadcasting, and other allied courses. In any given year the academy has over 1,200 students who are pursuing different doctoral programs.
