Shidu

The town of Shidu lies in the Shidu Nature Park which is located near Beijing, China. The word “shidu” means tenth crossing. It is called so because, in order to reach Shidu town you have to cross the Juma River ten times. At every crossing there is either a beautiful natural site like the Five Fingers Mountain with its caves (having 700,000-year old stalactites) or artistically designed pavilions, bridges, orchards, vegetable gardens, and Buddhist pagodas. Tourist activities here include bungee jumping, mountain climbing, hiking, trekking, camping, and more. Although not yet a UNESCO heritage site, Shidu is a well-preserved scenic area that is a delight for photographers and naturalists.
