Niujie Mosque

The Niujie Mosque is one of the most majestic mosques in Beijing. The architecture is a unique combination of typical Chinese palaces and Arabic structures. It faces west towards the holy city of Mecca that has Islamic importance. The mosque has no idols or images because they are banned by their religion but there are sculptures and reliefs on the walls that depict happiness and good fortune. The hall is decorated with ancient Al-Kufi Arabic characters. There are also some unique floral paintings, glass beads hung at the entrances and other interesting decorations. The unique Watching Moon Tower that is 10 meters tall is the biggest attraction of the Mosque.
